Republican Core Principles
Republicans believe the constitution of the United States is a contract between free people and the public officials they choose to govern them; that our rights are granted to us by our creator and not by the government; that the purpose of taxation is to finance government and not to redistribute income; that we are all created equal and should stand equal before the law; and in individual liberty with personal responsibility for ones choices and actions.

U.S. Senator for Louisiana John Kennedy was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016 and reelected in 2022. He has built a distinguished career as a conservative champion for the people of Louisiana and a dedicated watchdog of taxpayer money. Sen. Kennedy serves on the Appropriations, Banking, Budget, and Judiciary Committees in the U.S. Senate. He serves as the top Republican of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development and Banking Subcommittee on Economic Policy. During his first term in the Senate, Kennedy passed several bills to protect our stock market from foreign corruption, extend flood insurance protection for Louisiana homeowners, stop corrupt lobbyists, and preserve disaster relief programs for small businesses. No other Louisiana senator has passed more bills in his or her first term. Prior to his election to the Senate, Sen. Kennedy served as state treasurer of Louisiana for five terms. As treasurer, he oversaw the state’s multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios. He also oversaw local and state bond issues and returned millions of dollars in unclaimed property each year. Sen. Kennedy served as secretary of the Department of Revenue, special counsel to Gov. Roemer and secretary of Gov. Roemer’s cabinet. He was also an attorney and partner in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans law firm of Chaffe McCall. Sen. Kennedy graduated magna cum laude in political science, philosophy, and economics from Vanderbilt University, was president of his senior class, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an executive editor of the “Virginia Law Review” and elected to the Order of the Coif. He earned a Bachelor of Civil Law degree with first class honors from Oxford University (Magdalen College) in England, where he studied under Sir Rupert Cross and Sir John H. C. Morris. He has written and published several books and articles on Constitutional law, the Louisiana Products Liability Act, and the Federal Power Commission. Sen. Kennedy served as an adjunct professor at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center from 2002 to 2016. He has regularly volunteered as a substitute teacher in Louisiana public schools. He resides in Madisonville, Louisiana, with his wife Becky and their dogs. The Kennedys are founding members of their local Methodist church. |

Lt. Governor Billy NungesserWhen: July 24th, 2025
Buffet Lunch @ 11:30 am - Cost $30 Regular Meeting @ 11:30 -1:00 pm Where: Lake Charles Country Club 3350 Country Club Dr, Lake Charles, LA 70605 Reservations by noon Tuesday week of the event Contact Terri Doucet by email [email protected] Reservations not cancelled by noon Tuesday must be honored. About the speakerBilly Nungesser is the 54th Lieutenant Governor of the state of Louisiana. He was elected in 2015 and took office in January of 2016. From July 2019 to July 2020, Nungesser served as Chairman of the National Lieutenant Governors Association, a professional association which charts issues and work to be pursued by the second-highest ranking officials in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
Under his administration, the state of Louisiana celebrated a fourth consecutive year of record-breaking visitation as Louisiana welcomed more than 53.2 million visitors, bringing in more than $18.9 billion to the state. Billy left a career as a successful businessman to begin his political career following Hurricane Katrina. In 2005, Nungesser rode out Hurricane Katrina at his ranch in southern Plaquemines Parish. In response to his own frustration over the slow response from government following Hurricane Katrina, Billy decided to run for Plaquemines Parish President in 2006. He was re-elected in 2010 with over 70% of the vote. On April 20, 2010, Plaquemines Parish became ground zero for the nation's biggest environmental disaster. In the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in the Gulf, Billy became the voice of Louisiana's frustration. During the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the New York Times named him the "hardest working man in Louisiana" and ABC named him Person of the Week during the same period. He continues to be the "hardest working man in Louisiana" to date on behalf of all of us. Today Billy is second-in-command in the executive branch and Louisiana's ambassador as Commissioner of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. From natural disasters to promoting our great state...Billy Nungesser is a man for all of Louisiana. |
